The Days drag on, But the Weeks fly by!

Well I'm sorry I missed last weeks blog. But to tell you the truth....... It's been a little boring the past couple weeks! We have been doing a lot of organizing and studying. So over the last two weeks I have taken a couple pics for you. So here we go.

So out at the flight line we are running a medic shift from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.! A nice 17 hour day of working (well its more just sitting around waiting for something bad to happen!). That and I share an office with the First Sergeant and the Commander, so by default I become there little errand boy. And at night they do not have chow(army for food). So I get to eat my wonderful MRE(Meal Ready to Eat). It should say Meal with a 50% chance of laxitives or 50% chance of excess fiber! Because it will do one or the other! If you see in the picture, It was Sloppy Joe tonight! After I got it out I couldn't eat it. I just ate M&Ms.

And last week I got a random call from my really good friend from Basic Training. He is the only one that I still keep in contact with. Me and this guy have some pretty funny stories. But it turns out he just got back from Korea and is stationed here at Fort Hood! So i dropped by to do some homework and some catch up! His name is Steven Duran. It's funny because we went to dinner a couple days later and it was if we had been friends for a long time! Its a small world.

Here we go. I didn't think we were going to watch the Super Bowl this year. But our command somehow hooked us up with a bigscreen TV and Pizza, and soda. Witch by the way, I have not had a soda since I have been here! I have been tempted so many times. I am sticking to my guns though! No Soda till I'm home! And hopefully by then I only want it on rare occasions.

One of the boring jobs that rotates around the unit is "The Shuttle Guy". For one full day you have to drive it back and forth from the Flight Line(Airport) to the Barracks(our home)! It actually made the day go by pretty fast though.

And here is what makes me smile every day! It's Whitney Lee. She sent me this picture the other day while she was at work. We always give each other the I Love You sign. Wether it be from across the room, or watching a movie together, and now its usaully via FaceTime(like skype for you non apple users). This picture made my day and maybe even my week.

So I got a little creative with my picture back! I was just sitting in the clinic studying the Physiology and Treatment of Hypovolemic Shock mainly due to Hemorrhage.Because I have to teach a class on it in a few days. But this is what I came up with. Not to brag but i thought it was pretty clever.

Now I have to think about Valentines day early because I have to mail everything. And here on post there is no telling on when a package will actually be shipped! So I got a box full of goodies ready for Whitney and sent it off! She is going to be here 2 days after Valentines day. I have a 4 day pass that weekend and she is taking a little vacation to come see me! And to tell you the truth, I am so freaking excited. I am acting like a high school girl waiting for prom! I am counting down the days! So we will celebrate V-Day when she gets here, I just wanted her to have some on the actuall day.

This is her really good Valentines day gift that she will get when she arrives here in Texas. On my next post I will have picture of what I got her, and also what she got me. She is a super good gift giver. She knows I don't like the expensive gifts(thats not a hint for all you reading this! I still like high dollar items :) ). I like the ones that come from the heart.

So we have "Sick Call" or as the civilians call the "InstaCare". We are open from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. So during the night shift the Doc will start to doze off, if no one is in there. LOL.

This is kind of a sad note! Fort Hood is roughly the size of the Salt Lake valley. And has a population of about 50,000 people. And thats not including all the civilians that work here daily but do not live here! There are a lot of people on this base! And we all know the Army people can get a "little" rowdy, and maybe even out of control. This sign below is a serious reminder to not be an idiot behind the wheel! It rarely gets past 30 days.
